What is a CIC?
A Community Interest Company (CIC) is a special type of non-profit organisation designed to benefit the community rather than private shareholders. At Acting Coach Scotland (ACS), we’re proud to operate as a CIC, ensuring that everything we do is centred around supporting our students, local artists, and the wider creative community.
Why ACS Being a CIC Matters
As a CIC, every decision we make is driven by our mission to provide accessible, high-quality acting training and support for the creative arts. Here’s what makes ACS stand out:
🎓 Accessible Acting Training in Glasgow
- Our full-time courses, including HNC, HND Acting and Performance and bespoke 1yr Professional Diploma Course, are designed to equip students with the skills to thrive in the performing arts industry.
- We offer part-time acting courses that build confidence and skills, with many alumni going on to work professionally.
🎭 Supporting Local Artists and Theatre Companies
- We provide subsidised rehearsal space to local theatre companies, helping them bring their creative visions to life.
- Small theatre companies rehearsing with us can use our Old Gym Theatre for performances free of charge.
🌍 Creating Opportunities for the Community
- We’ve supported over 250 part-time students annually and co-produced new creative projects, including Creative Scotland-funded plays.
- Free workshop and performance space is offered to initiatives like the Stage 2 Page writers’ development programme, fostering the growth of emerging talent.
What We Do as a CIC
Deliver Outstanding Training
- From part-time acting classes to professional full-time courses, we ensure students leave with the tools, confidence, and materials (headshots, voicereels, showreels) needed to succeed.
Provide Subsidised Spaces
- We offer affordable rehearsal space hire in Glasgow, supporting local artists, theatre companies, and charities with spaces that inspire creativity.
Host Community Programmes
- Free or subsidised workshops, events, and productions for underserved groups, ensuring everyone has access to the arts.
Create Industry Opportunities
- We connect our students with casting directors, agents, and industry professionals, providing workshops and networking events that help bridge the gap between training and work.
